Accelerate Her Future® Applauds Federal Investment to Advance Equality and Economic Security for Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People

Toronto, ON – October 29, 2025 — Accelerate Her Future® (AHF) welcomes today’s announcement of over $660 million in new funding from the Government of Canada to advance equality, safety, and inclusion for women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. This investment includes $382.5 million over five years to strengthen women’s economic security and participation in leadership roles through the Women’s Economic and Leadership Opportunities Fund—a commitment that aligns directly with AHF’s mission to create equitable career pathways for Indigenous, Black, and racialized women and youth across Canada. Earlier this year, AHF joined The Prosperity Project (TPP) and other gender equity organizations on Parliament Hill during Gender Equality Week to advocate for women’s economic advancement and leadership. Today’s announcement reflects the continued momentum of those conversations and a national commitment to building an inclusive, future-ready workforce.
“This investment represents a meaningful step toward closing the persistent opportunity gaps faced by Indigenous, Black, and racialized women,” said Dr. Golnaz Golnaraghi, Founder and President of Accelerate Her Future®. “Our research shows that systemic barriers, including bias in hiring and promotion, lack of sponsorship, and systemic racism, continue to limit women’s advancement. Sustainable investment in equity-focused organizations is essential to ensure that all women and gender-diverse people can access the networks, learning, and leadership opportunities they need to thrive.”
This federal investment is a vital step toward systemic change. Gender equality is a moral imperative and one that is critical for Canada’s innovation, prosperity, and collective future.
